CVN Reunion Leerdam, 17th November 2012
Hon Secretary Chris Flint, Asst. Secretary Kathy Crilley and Ann Sayer journeyed over to Leerdam meeting up with our Dutch and Begian friends for a warm welcome, coffee and delicious cake at the cafe of the Royal Leerdam Glass Blowing Centre. Richard and Sandra Brown, having travelled separately were also there.
As always, the CVN had organised plenty of activities before we were allowed to sit down and eat! First off, was a glass blowing demonstration. The glassblowers were mostly volunteers - all keen to learn the art. Well worth a visit if you happen to be in that part of the Netherlands.
Next came a stroll along the riverside to the Royal Leerdam Glass Museum. On show were many exquisite examples, from Europe, such as Lalique, as well as the Netherlands own glassware. Sadly, Piet dragged Chris and myself away to set up the table ready for the Centurions presentations which were to take place after the meal. And what a meal it was! By this time, 5pm, we were all very hungry. Presentations over, merchandise sold, we packed everything away and headed off back to Calais for the ferry home.
Thank you Piet, Gerritt and especially Frans for organisng a wonderful day out.
