We regret to announce that Annie Meyers-Frenken passed away on 22nd September 2025.
Annie qualified in the 1978 Leicester-to-Skegness 100-mile race, walking for the Maastricht club Kimbria. Towards the end of the race, she walked alongside three other Dutch walkers, Lieuwe Sprietsma, Theo Tromp, and Klaas Bakker. Three of the four finished within 1 second of eachother, but Annie had the honour of crossing the line first in 22:47:58 and qualified as C637.
She was also known for organising Euraudax walks (group endurance walks which are controlled at a constant pace) of 100 km and longer in Eindhoven, Maastricht, Best and other places. She also inspired others to organize walks, which eventually led to the foundation of Euraudax Nederland. She was also involved in Euradax cycling and rowing.
