Mike was a talented ultra-runner and ran for the GB 24 hour team at the European 24 hour championships in Basle.

Encouraged to try race-walking, Mike joined Surrey Walking Club. He was a determined athlete and became Centurion 914 in the 1993 London 100m/24hrs, in a time of 22h 22.35. He also walked for the SWC team in the Manchester to Blackpool 50 miles.

Later in life Mike took up cycling and cycled impressive distances through hilly countryside each day.

Mike passed away June 2023 and leaves a widow Brigitte. He was always good company and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Ton died in May 2023. He was a member of s.v. LAT when he qualified as C442 at the 1969 Bristol 100 22.43.16. He went on to complete another 6 Centurions, his fastest time was 21.19.51 in the 1974 Leicester to Skegness (4th completion).
