Jan passed away in February 2023 aged 90. Jan was a member of AV’40 (Delft) when he qualified as a Centurion in 1965 at the Chigwell 100 in 19.26.12.
A year later he also successfully completed the Leicester to Skegness 100 miles.
In more recent years Jan was a member of w.s.v. De Arend in Nijmegen.
GB International Mike made the Centurions’ all-time fastest qualifiers’ list (2nd) when representing York Postal Walking Club: he won the 1982 Leicester WC Congerstone 100 Miles (77 started/55 finished/32 being new Centurions) when clocking 17.21.52 in cold & windy conditions.
Mike Holmes was also a member of Southend-on-sea AC during the club’s 1970s heyday.
Mike is the son of C303 Harry Holmes Jnr (Yorkshire WC) who qualified in the 1960 Leicester-to-Skegness 100 Miles in 19.31.08.
Mike passed away on 1st July 2023. Out thoughts are with his family and friends.
Wout passed away on April 18 2023, one day after his 90th birthday.
He walked the 100 miles from Leicester to Skegness twice: in 1966 he did so in 22.55.05 and again in 1968 in 22.42.01.
He was active until his late age as a volunteer of the Rotterdamse Wandelsport Vereniging RWV , of which he was a member for 71 years and was even named an honorary member. We will miss his commitment and great commitment to walking.
Ken passed away on the 14th March 2023 aged 85. Ken qualified as a Centurion in the 1979 Ewhurst 100 Miles clocking 22:43.10. He joined Surrey Walking Club in 1960.
Dick passed away on the 19th December 2022 in Chatham hospital. He was a member of the London Vidarians. He competed in many walks back in the 50’s and 60’s and represented Kent. He was proud of his achievement in the100 becoming Centurion 340 in the 1963 Brighton to London and Back (106 miles in total). His time for 100 miles was 20:47:17.
